Hi Martin, you are so lucky - your forst flight to Brazil and you have the aircraft to yourself. I have never been on a flight to Brazil that was relatively empty - three seats to yourself - luxury!

My first day in the Project

The locals are complaining that it’s got colder. Around 25 degrees is for them quite cold compared to high temperature which were here before my arrival. Today, I have been first time at the Project. As Anne has written

Bom dia Rio!

I am here. First time on southern hemisphere. In the country of coffee, samba and good football. 12 hours in the plane didn’t make me as tired as I thought. The machine was quite empty, so I could lie through three seats. As there was nothing interesting to see underneath, except blue Atlantic, I was just relaxing, sleeping and learning Portuguese. Mid-Way!



So, I'm just over the mid-way point of my volunteering placement here and already I feel I have learnt and gained much more than I ever could have imagined. Of course like all long-term volunteering placements, it hasn't all been a bed of roses but I'm am, in a strange way and of course in retrospect, grateful for the tough times as not only have they given me an opportunity to get a better understanding of myself but they have made the good times…
